Urban Eyes

A nice example of creative network projects that keep our rss feeds busy these days, Urban Eyes is a service that borrows the viewpoint of pigeons, allowing us to see the city as we never see it.

“Similar to shamanistic journey, a bond between human and an animal is created when one feeds the pigeon with Urban Eyes bird seed. When the bird flies about, the seed triggers the CCTV / webcam network in a city based on
its proximity to the camera. The images are then sent to the person (his PDA) who fed the bird creating a story
about the bird and the city.

Due to the purpose of the camera network, the view one perceives, is quite different from the market orientated, everyday media exposure. Ranging from traffic cameras on the lamp posts to gate cams to back yards and living rooms.”
